Northern Cricket Union looks to appoint a Chief Executive

Sep 24, 2021 | General News

The Northern Cricket Union of Ireland (the Union) is the governing body for the game at both performance and participation levels in east and south Ulster, covering the game for men, women, boys and girls, and school’s cricket throughout Ulster.

It is a registered charity and became incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in 2017. Its current organisational structure comprises a Board, headed by a chairman, to which three Directorates covering Domestic Cricket, Representative Cricket and Finance and Sponsorship report.

In recent times there has been a great deal of change in Irish cricket largely brought about by Ireland’s transition to Full Member status of the ICC. For the Union that has led to a different approach to the administration of the game. As well as incorporating as a company limited by guarantee it has employed a team of staff dedicated to the development and promotion of the game at all levels and we have an interprovincial team, the Northern Knights, playing first class and list A matches.

Cricket Ireland recently announced a Strategic Plan 2021 -23 which is the first part of a twostep programme for growth – the second part will cover the period 2024-31. The Union will soon publish its Strategy for 2021-23 which will be closely aligned with Cricket Ireland. It has a Vision of supporting and strengthening the member clubs and schools to develop and grow the game of cricket with strategic themes covering participation in clubs and schools, developing the talent and performance pathways, striving for excellence in the culture of the organisation and raising the Union’s profile.

The Union wishes to appoint a Chief Executive to lead the paid and volunteer workers, to spearhead the development of cricket in the region through the Strategic Plan as well as raising the profile of the Union along with attracting increased financial investment through the NCU and Northern Knights brands and other commercial assets and supporting our governance structures.
