A memorable weekend of double cup final success for Waringstown CC as Sophie Hinds’ team took home the Gallagher Women’s Challenge Cup on Sunday.

Highlights from the final:
- The picturesque Wallace Park played host to this year’s Gallagher Challenge Cup final between Waringstown and Holywood 1881.
- Waringstown bowled first and had Holywood 1881 struggling as the dangerous and in-form Karabo Meso was dismissed by Rachael Harrison for 8.
- A 35-run partnership from Erin Bond and Lara Maritz was the standout batting display by the young Holywood team as they succumbed to 70 all out in 16.2 overs largely due to the experienced bowling of Naomi Matthews (3-15), Charlotte Lyons (2-11), Cara Murray (2-11) and Rachel Harrison (2-14).
- Amy Caulfield remained on 21* and Charlotte Lyons 22* as their 70-run partnership took home the victory for Waringstown.
Commiserations to a very young Holywood 1881 side playing in their first final after promotion to the Women’s Premier League this year.

Thanks to NIACUS officials Alex Adams and Ian Houston for umpiring the game and to NCU Vice-President Bryan Milford for speaking after the game and presenting the trophy.
