The Inter-Provincial series continues on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th at Stormont as Northern Knights take on North West Warriors in IP20 and IP50 games respectively.
Chair of selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the second squad announcement of the IP season:
“Firstly I’d like to congratulate all the players and coaching staff on a positive start to the IP20 season last week. We now focus on preparing fully to face North West Warriors, backing up last week’s two IP20 victories, and starting positively in the IP50 competition. The selectors have selected a squad of 15 for the two games. Mark Adair and Paul Stirling are unavailable as they prepare for the T20 series against Pakistan. Ross Adair and Neil Rock are only available for the T20 fixture to aid their preparations for the Pakistan series. We wish all four players well in the upcoming series.
Unfortunately, Morgan Topping is also unavailable as he continues to recover from his hamstring injury and we hope to see Morgan return to action very soon. This gives us a great opportunity to give some of our young NCU players exposure at senior interprovincial level. On this occasion, we have called up Carson McCullough, Adam Kennedy and Sam Topping. We are delighted to welcome Sam, who is a member of the Sussex Academy, into the Knights squad for the first time and we thank Paul Frabrace and Sussex CCC for their cooperation and support with this. I would like to wish all three players all the best this week.
With Cian Robertson (shoulder injury) and Theo van Woerkom unavailable this allows our young Irish U19 international spinner Harry Dyer to make the squads and we wish Harry well this week. As a selection group, we’re very excited to have seven U21 players included in this squad. Finally, Neil Rock will skipper the IP20 side and James McCollum will captain the team in the IP50 due to the absence of Mark Adair. I’d like to wish James and his team all the best for this week.”
