Reigning IP20 Trophy Champions Northern Knights will look to defend their title as the season’s first and only IP20 Festival gets underway on Wednesday 1st May at Pembroke.
Chair of Selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the first match day squad announcement of the new season:
“Firstly I’d like to thank and congratulate all the players and coaching staff for their hard work and dedication over the winter months. I’d also like to congratulate all the players who achieved Wolves or Senior international call-ups during the winter. We hope these experiences will lead to successful IP seasons for them all.
The selectors have selected a squad of 13 for the season’s first and only IP20 festival starting on Wednesday at Pembroke CC. Morgan Topping unfortunately misses out due to a hamstring injury picked up on the recent Wolves tour to Nepal. Theo van Woerkom is also unavailable for this festival. We hope Morgan and Theo will return for the next round of games. This allows Ben Calitz to achieve his first senior interprovincial call-up and I wish him all the best next week. As well as Ben it’s great to see Jake Egan come back into the IP squad after an off-season playing his cricket at Randy Pete’s thanks to the CI scholarship. We are excited to see another two young batters, with both being under 21 in the side. Mark Adair will again captain the side and I wish Mark and his team all the best for Wednesday as we aim to make a positive start to the season.”
*Cian Robertson is still on RTPP from his shoulder operation in January and it is hoped that he will be back available for selection in mid/late June*
