Northern Knights complete Rario IP20 and 50 double for the 2023 season

Sep 7, 2023 | General News

The Northern Knights won the Rario Inter-Provincial Cup for the first time since 2013 after their final match against North West Warriors was abandoned due to heavy rain in Belfast.

Following their Rario Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy success earlier in the season, the Knights completed the double for the first time in their history.

Earlier in the day – and with much better weather – the Warriors posted 241-9 from their 50 overs, with Ireland international Stephen Doheny scoring 79 off 97 balls.

However, after just nine overs of the Knights’ reply, the rain came; despite the groundstaff’s gallant effort to get the match back underway, the game had to be abandoned.

The result meant that both sides received two points apiece – enough for the Knights to overhaul Leinster Lightning and claim the 2023 Inter-Provincial Cup title.
