Lisburn came out as winners at Shaw’s Bridge despite being 18-7 early in the 1st innings due to an excellent comeback with bat and ball.
Finishing on a somewhat low total of 59 all out mainly due to Noah Best’s mature innings of 27*, Lisburn needed to start well with the ball to get back into the game. Lisburn bowler Matty Grey did just that and had Instonians 1-3 with the pressure building on the Shaw’s Bridge side. Grey finished with Player of the Match-worthy figures of 6-8 from his four overs which will no doubt live long in the young man’s memory. A couple of wickets from John Cunningham, Harry Walker and Noah Best ensured that Instonians were bowled out for 52 and Lisburn took the victory by 7 runs.
Congratulations to Lisburn U15’s and commiserations to Instonians. It was a memorable final for all involved.
Thanks to FM Stores for sponsoring the competition and to Gillian Robinson for attending the final. Their support for the competition has been brilliant and we really appreciate the partnership. Also, Thank you to Instonians CC at Shaw’s Bridge for hosting the final.
