Northern Knights Squad Named For Rario IP20 Festival At Pembroke With Returns For Ireland Duo Paul Stirling And James McCollum

Jul 27, 2023 | General News

The Knights will be hoping for some better weather this time round after the last IP20 Festival was washed out at Bready.

Chair of Selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the third and final IP20 squad announcement of the season:

“After a promising start in the first IP20 festival and the disappointing abandonment of the second festival due to rain, we now turn our focus and aim to finish strongly in the third and final IP20 festival.

The selectors have selected a squad of 14 for the festival. We’re delighted to have both Paul Stirling and James McCollum available for all three fixtures and we welcome them back into the squad. Mark Adair is only available for the fixtures on Wednesday and Thursday as his workloads continue to be managed. Matthew Foster is also only available on Wednesday and Thursday due to work commitments. With Mark and Matthew unavailable for Tuesday, Jason van der Merwe retains his place in the squad for Tuesday’s fixture, however, unfortunately, John Matchett misses out on this festival.

In addition to Cian Robertson on loan to the North West Warriors, Josh Manley and Carson McCullough will again be on a short-term loan to the Munster Reds for this festival to maximise their IP playing opportunities and to aid their development. All players are a big part of our future plans.

Finally, Mark Adair will captain the team on Wednesday and Thursday with Neil Rock deputising on Tuesday. I’d like to wish Mark, Neil and their team all the best for this final festival.”
