Friends’ School Lisburn win the Girls’ Schools’ Cup

Jun 29, 2023 | General News

Today CSNI C.C. hosted the 2023 Girls’ Schools’ Cup Final played between Sullivan Upper and Friends’ School Lisburn.

Batting first in the 20-overs a-side final, Sullivan Upper scored 128-3 and Lucy Andrews scored a fantastic 30, supported by Erin Mitchell, who made 17. The opening pair of Mitchell and Andrews put on a 43-run partnership and batted beautifully but needed the rest of the batters to support them to reach a decent total.

With the match evenly poised after the 15-minute interval, Aoife Fisher and Rebecca Lowe took to the crease with Rebecca in great form with the bat after her 47 and POTM performance in last night’s Gallagher Women’s Challenge Cup game against CSNI. The opening pair put on 95 runs before Lowe was dismissed for a magnificent 47 (again!). Fisher batted well to make it to 28 before she was bowled by Calvert for 28. Sullivan’s bowlers bowled tightly with Calvert and Isla Bond taking a wicket each but some calm batting from Hopkins and Wilson was enough to get Friends’ School over the line and claim the trophy.

Thank you to CSNI C.C. for hosting the final and for donating the new trophy and thank you to NCU Vice-President Brian Milford for presenting the medals to both teams and the trophy to the winning captain Aoife Fisher.
