Gallagher Men’s Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals Review

3 semi-final places have been booked with 1 place remaining as Instonians v Lisburn was called off due to Friday’s overnight rain.

Waringstown v Muckamore- Waringstown posted 271-9 off 47 overs with Greg Thompson and Pat Botha doing the damage with 98 and 91 runs respectively, both agonisingly close to reaching 3 figures. Muckamore were set a DLS par score of 270 from 47 overs but fell short by 112 runs with the pick of their batsmen being Ben Calitz who hit 68. An exit for Section 1 club Muckamore with it being their first defeat of the season after 15 games. Greg Thompson won the Player of the Match Award from Gallagher for his 98 runs and 2-21 with the ball.

CSNI v Derriaghy- Derriaghy were 123 all out after 39.3 overs with Craig Lewis top scoring with 29. Matthew Foster led the CSNI bowling and finished with figures of 5-19 winning him the Player of the Match Award from Gallagher. A comfortable 9-wicket win for CSNI.

Carrickfergus v CIYMS- An exit for last season’s competition winners CIYMS with the result being their first cup game loss in 2 years. Carrickfergus posted 168 from 49.2 overs, Van Der Walt top-scored with 41 and CIYMS’ Tyron Koen was the pick of the bowlers with 3-30. CIYMS fell short by just 7 runs with Ross Adair top scoring with 40 and Shetty and Snyman taking 3 wickets each for Carrickfergus. CJ Van Der Walt picked up the Player of the Match Award from Gallagher for his 41 runs and bowling figures of 2-18.

 

Instonians v Lisburn will be played on Sunday 9th July.

Both Gallagher Women’s Challenge Cup games on Sunday were postponed due to the wet weather.
