Chair of Selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the first Emerging Knights squad announcement of the season:
“The selectors have selected two squads of 12 for the 50-over and T20 games against the Emerging Warriors with only James Hunter and Max Burton unavailable due to Graduation commitments and injury respectively. We have selected 16 players over the two games to manage a number of players’ workloads as well as selecting a range of our most promising young players, a number of more experienced players and a number of players of interest.
I’m pleased and excited to say the average age of both our squads is under 20. We hope that these two games and indeed the entire future series gives our younger players the opportunity to gain valuable exposure at the next level to accelerate their learning and development.
Finally, Paddy Beverland will captain the team and I’d like to wish Paddy and his team all the best for the first two fixtures against the Emerging Warriors.”
The fixtures will take place at Stormont with the 50-over game on Wednesday and the T20 on Thursday, both starting at 10:45.
