Sport NI Club Leaders Training Programme

Cricket Ireland / Sport NI

Sport Northern Ireland has launched its ‘Club Leaders’ programme, designed to support the development of business skills in local sports clubs. Free training and support is available for those involved in the day to day running of clubs, covering business and financial planning, marketing, governance and facilities management.

This training is available in three forms:

1. Online

The Club Leaders website (www.sportniclubleaders.net) is the gateway to the support the programme offers. Clubs can register with us online to access online modules and toolkits, forums, Q&A’s, information about our mentoring programme and details of upcoming seminars. Clubs are strongly encouraged to sign up and explore what is on offer.

2. Club Leaders Seminars

Club Leaders seminars are face-to-face training for groups of at least 8 clubs and build upon the content of our online resources. They include case studies, topical issues and exercises and allow for discussion – which gives club leaders the chance to ask questions and share their experiences with the group.

A list of upcoming dates is available online and is detailed below. All scheduled sessions currently run from 7 pm – 9 pm, with tea and coffee served on arrival from 6.30 pm. They are free to attend and any club member can register to attend either online or by emailing the team at clubleadersni@uk.pwc.com.

If you are interested in hosting your own Club Leaders seminar, please get in touch with the team via clubleadersni@uk.pwc.com.

Full details of the topics we cover are available online.

3. Mentoring

Club Leaders also offers one-to-one mentoring support for clubs to work through specific issues. Volunteers from within business will provide a confidential, supportive and challenging environment to help club leaders explore and develop how they want to take their club forwards. Mentoring can provide a different perspective on issues a club may be facing and offers a safe environment to share experiences.

If you know a club which you think would benefit from this kind of support, or are thinking about your own, do encourage them to find out more about the programme online and complete an expression of interest. This helps us understand the club and the issue they are working through and match them to an appropriate mentor.
