The Under 11 sessions have been well attended this year and the coaches have been impressed with the enthusiasm and the improvement shown by the boys as the sessions progressed.
The coaches now plan to review performances and to select a reduced squad for further sessions to take place in the New Year.
In telling the boys of the plans head coach Andy McCrea urged those who aren’t selected not to lose heart and reminded them that a certain Andrew Strauss had not been selected for England U13, not selected for the U15s, nor indeed the U17s, but that he had finally been selected for England U19s and gone on to be one of England’s more successful captains of recent times.
There will be plenty of further opportunities for all to play and make an impression in club games and to build on the skills learned – with the maxim of always seeking to leave a practice session a better player than when you began it.
It it anticipated that all the players in the pre-Christmas sessions will be contacted in early January as to whether or not they have been included in the final squad.
