Ready for Restart - Communication to Clubs

NCU

You may have seen the recent communication from Cricket Ireland encouraging clubs to prepare for a staged return to action https://www.cricketireland.ie/news/article/lets-get-ready

The NCU has welcomed the recent statement by the NI Executive outlining the roadmap for a gradual return to sport in 2021.  The announcement focuses on a staged and safety-led progression of permitted activity, consistent with our experience returning to activity last year.  With an indicative date of 12th April for return to training for outdoor sport, we are encouraging clubs to prepare now so that your club can be ready to return to activity as soon as we are permitted.

We will be operating under the same COVID-19 protocols as last year.  Current protocols can be found at https://www.cricketireland.ie/covid-19
Any changes required to the protocols, in line with Government updates or changes to restrictions, will be communicated to clubs as soon as possible.

LET'S GET READY

The NCU is encouraging all clubs to prepare now for a restart of activity through a number of tasks.  Completion of these tasks will be required prior to the start of any cricket activity and include:

  1. Review the checklists for preparing a cricket club for restarting activity including:

    • cleaning guides
    • review and update the club COVID risk assessment,
    • review and update booking forms and contact tracing processes.

  2. Identify your club safety officer(s). If your club requires training for new safety officers, information on Covid Safety Officer training will be circulated in due course
  1. Consider your signage, PPE and sanitisation requirements.  Some clubs may have availed of the SNI COVID-19 support package which provided a range of sanitisation / PPE equipment.

As was the case last year, NCU Staff will be assigned as support officers, to guide and support clubs in the coming weeks to prepare for return to training.   Your assigned staff member will be in contact soon to help your club begin these steps.

We look forward to hopefully returning to activity in the coming weeks.
