The Northern Cricket Union is pleased to announce the Northern Knights squad for the upcoming 3-day Inter-Provincial T20 Festival, set to take place at the Mardyke, Cork, starting Tuesday, 17 June.
The squad features a blend of experience and youth, with Neil Rock continuing his leadership role as captain and wicketkeeper.
Chair of selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the first IP20 squad announcement of the season:
“The selectors have selected a squad of 13 for each day of the festival, with Paul Stirling, Ross Adair, and Matthew Humphreys unavailable to play on Day 1 due to their participation against the West Indies on Sunday.
Harry Dyer, Adam Kennedy and Matthew Halliday will travel with the squad for Tuesday’s match against Leinster Lightning.
We’re delighted to welcome Ben Calitz back to Knights duty; however, Jordan Neill and Ruhan Pretorius are unavailable due to injury, and Adam Leckey is unavailable due to exam commitments.
Mark Adair is also unavailable due to gaining a contract with the MLC side, Washington Freedom. Whilst we are naturally disappointed to lose Mark, we’re delighted he has gained another franchise opportunity.
With Ulster Schools and NCU U19 also in action this week against the MCC, we have called up CSNI professional Sean Davey into the squad. We would like to thank Sean and CSNI for their willingness to support the Knights this week.
Neil Rock will again captain the side. I wish Neil and his team all the best for the first of four T20 festivals this week.”
