Chair of Selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the seventh and final squad announcement of the IP season:
“Following our fixtures against the Munster Reds in Cork and the Munster Reds games against the North West Warriors last week we aim to finish the IP20 tournament strongly and secure the IP50 title against a very strong Leinster Lightning team.
The selectors have selected a squad of 13 for both games. Unfortunately, availability for these games has been significantly impacted.
We are delighted to welcome Captain Mark Adair and Jake Egan back after their injuries. Paul Stirling is unavailable due to his upcoming wedding and the NCU community would like to wish Paul all the best wishes for his big day. Morgan and Sam Topping are also both unavailable as they attend their sister’s wedding and we wish the Topping family well for the special occasion.
Jordan Neill, Adam Leckey, Harry Dyer, and James West are all unavailable as they have been selected for Ireland U19 on their tour to England and we wish them all the very best on the tour. Ryan Hunter, Carson McCullough, Jack Dickson and Oliver Metcalfe are all unavailable. Also, due to new visa requirements in ROI Ruhan Pretorius and Tyron Koen are unavailable. Tom Mayes and Adam Kennedy are also unavailable due to injury.
Due to the unavailability outlined above, I’m delighted to announce that we have called up two of our young and upcoming NCU players Matthew Halliday and Finn Lutton. This is a second call-up for Finn Lutton and congratulations to Matthew Halliday who receives his first call-up to the Knights squad following a promising season with Waringstown.
Finally, Mark Adair will captain the side and I’d like to wish Mark and his team all the best for this week.”
