NCU women defeated Leinster Women by 52 runs to clinch the Future Series title for 2024.
Laurelvale CC played host to the final game of the NCU’s Future Series campaign on Wednesday where a win would take home the trophy. NCU skipper Amy Caulfield lost the toss and was put into bat as the sun shone on the Laurelvale turf. Naomi Matthews was the star of the show with a well-made 53 before being bowled and her contribution got the side to a defendable 140.
At the interval, both sides and staff were treated to some fantastic hospitality provided by the volunteers Laurelvale CC who went out of their way to prepare a buffet-style lunch and endless coffees and treats throughout the day- thank you to Colin, Amanda and the rest of the team.
NCU bowled incredibly well to dismiss Leinster for 88 with Emily Calvert being the pick of the bowlers with 3-10 ably supported by Amy Caulfield (2-7) and Jemma Gillan (2-15).
Congratulations to NCU Women for the match and series win, it’s a real testament to their hard work over the summer and we look forward to the 3-match series against the North West in a few weeks’ time.
