The NCU Senior Women’s squad will play three Future Series T20 fixtures against North West Warriors and Cricket Leinster twice. NCU Senior Women will play both teams back to back on Tuesday 23rd July at Lisburn CC and then play Cricket Leinster again in Kildare on Friday.
Chair of Selectors Andrew Cowden commented on the first future series squad announcement of the new season:
“Firstly I’d like to thank and congratulate all the players and coaching staff for their hard work and dedication over the winter months and during the first half of our season. The NCU Women have already played two very competitive fixtures against Jersey in preparation for the future series and the NW series later in the summer, winning the first and losing the second.
The selectors have selected a squad of 13 for the three T20 fixtures this week with Grace Wilson and Rachael Thomas both unavailable. Amy Hunter, Cara Murray and Abbi Harrison are all not eligible to play in this competition as they’re members of the Irish Women’s Performance squad.
The future series is part of our NCU Senior Women’s programme and we have picked a young and exciting squad with no fewer than eight players under 19 accompanied by our more experienced players.
A special mention to NCU Women’s stalwart Ali Cowan who has decided to step back from Senior NCU Women’s cricket after many years of commitment, service and contribution. I want to thank and congratulate Ali for her contribution to NCU Women’s cricket over the years.
Finally, Amy Caulfield will again captain the side I wish Amy and her team all the best for Tuesday and Friday as we aim to make a positive start to the 2024 future series.”
