NCU PRO

The All Ireland Under 15 Cup Final takes place between Instonians Under 15's and YMCA Under 15's, at Claremont Road (home of YMCA Cricket Club) in Sandymount, Dublin, on Monday 28th August (10am Start). This competition is between the Under 15 cup winners of the Leinster Cricket Union, Northern Cricket Union and North West Cricket Union.

The Road to the All Ireland Under 15 Final

The Instonians Under 15 team are undefeated this season having won all their league matches and the Graham Cup for the first time since 2007. In reaching the All Ireland Final, the team has lost only three wickets in five games. Captain Oliver Metcalfe has scored a total of 242 runs without being dismissed, including 67 not out in the Graham Cup final against Lisburn.

Graham Cup

Round 1: Instonians received a bye
Round 2: Academy conceded to Instonians
Round 3: Instonians beat CIYMS by 10 wickets
Semi-Final: Instonians beat Derriaghy by 9 wickets
Final: Instonians 101 for 1 wicket beat Lisburn 99 for 8 wickets by 9 wickets

Instonians then defeated North West Cricket Union winners Fox Lodge by nine wickets to set up a final showdown with YMCA. Oliver Metcalfe scored 95 not out as Instonians chased their victory target of 125 runs. The final will include many representative cricketers with seven of the YMCA team representing Leinster in the Irish Under 15 Inter-Provincial tournament in June, and five Instonians players representing the NCU. The Ireland Under 15 squad that toured England included three YMCA cricketers, along with Instonians duo James Hunter and Oliver Metcalfe.

The Instonians team manager Michael Humphreys speaking about the upcoming final says, 'the two teams met at the same venue four years ago in the final of the Under 11 All Ireland Cup when YMCA won a thrilling contest by five runs. This should be another high quality game, and obviously we will be hoping for a different result.'
